My AWPF Panel
To be awarded AWPF (Associateship of the Welsh Photographic Federation), I had to produce and present a series of 12 images, either prints or digitals, to the Welsh Photographic Federation. Guidance from the Federation states 'that the panel should 'hang together in a cohesive manner'. Panels are assessed as a 'whole' and there are 5 assessors, who look for 'photographic or technical quality, consistency, individuality (in pictorial submissions), sincerity and a sensitive presentation'. For my panel I chose Jazz as a theme having been asked to photograph the Jazz Festival at Abergavenny in 2018. But rather than just put up a series of images straight out of the camera, I wanted the essence of jazz to come through and reach the viewer. I wanted the viewer to feel as though they were there, at the jazz club. I thought about the colours, the sounds and the people of jazz, I wanted these to be seen, heard and felt in each of the images. My Panel was submitted for adjudication in November 2018, it was a successful panel and I was awarded the AWPF.
